Services Overview

In a holistic bodywork session, your body is speaking–and I am listening.

It’s time to free yourself of pain. Perhaps you're experiencing physical or emotional symptoms that don't respond to conventional treatment, or perhaps what worked for so long is no longer working: something is holding you back, and you don’t feel good in your own body! In order to move forward in life, you need a shift in your physical and emotional state.

The good news is that your body is always “on the phone,” telling us what it needs in any given moment. My job is to “pick up the phone,” skillfully listen and provide the help your body is requesting. I choose from my toolbox of modalities–Visceral, Vascular and Neural Manipulation, CranioSacral therapy, Energy work and Sound Therapy–and combine them in a holistic session, according to your body’s guidance.

Let’s remove those old, painful patterns, free your body and mind and help you live the life you want! A holistic session can address what’s a problem now, and prevent problems in the future. Read below about the different techniques I may use in your session.

Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy uses very light touch at the head, sacrum and various points on the body  to balance the craniosacral system: the 22 separate bones of the skull, nerves, craniosacral fluid, and connective tissues of the cranium and spinal cord. The fluid that surrounds the brain and flows from the cranium to the sacrum along the spinal cord is called craniosacral fluid; its wave-like pulse is called the craniosacral rhythm (CSR). Like all the body's systems, which are interconnected and influence each other, the health of the craniosacral system will affect the overall health of your body.

During a session, I feel for disturbances in the rate, amplitude, symmetry, and quality of flow of the CSR.  By listening with my hands to the movement of the CSR, I help your body make the shifts it needs to come back into balance.

Craniosacral therapy is ideally suited for ADHD, headaches, chronic middle ear infection, pain, and general health maintenance. It is recommended for autism, fibromyalgia, heart disease, pneumonia, arthritis, chronic sinus infections, and gastroenteritis and there are reported benefits for eye dysfunction, dyslexia, depression, motor coordination difficulties, TMJ, hyperactivity, whiplash, cerebral palsy, certain birth defects, and other central nervous system disorders.

Visceral, Vascular and Neural Manipulation- VM for short!

Every structure in your body— organs, arteries, nerves, etc. —is held in place by a strong web of connective tissue called 'fascia'.  Every structure has its particular "dance" within its fascial environment, gliding in harmony with its neighbors. Free movement of these structures is primary to good health. This web of fascia connects everything to everything else!

But when there is physical or emotional trauma to the body- for example a bad divorce, childhood trauma, or surgery- the fascia and the structures it holds become restricted, creating lines of tension throughout the web that the body is forced to move around. When that chronic irritation dominoes through the body, it can create symptoms like unexplained pain, incontinence, headaches, depression or anxiety, tingling down your arm, balance problems, etc.; all the consequence of unaddressed restrictions (sometimes created years ago- remember when you fell off the swing when you were 8 years old?!).

How is VM Performed?

VM uses specific, soft touch to gently release restrictions, layer by layer. (See my demo video above.) The body may adjust immediately, or it may take some time for symptoms to subside. Following is a partial list of disorders that can be helped by VM:

Energy Work

Every living thing, including every cell of your body, is in a constant state of vibration.

Your body’s electromagnetic field can be sensed and accessed for healing.

Although it's something most people can't perceive, the human energy field counts among the systems of the human body, just like the circulatory system, the pulmonary system, etc. Your energy system regulates the flow of electromagnetic energy in your body.  Every living thing, including every cell of your body, is in a constant state of vibration. This creates an electromagnetic field around your body, which can be sensed by others, and accessed for healing. When you enter a room and take an immediate like or dislike to someone you've never met, this is an example of two energy fields meeting and exchanging information!

By addressing the energy field we influence the health of the body, and vice versa.  I use my intuition and training in Healing Touch to listen to your body and address its energetic imbalances.  Energy work can be performed with the client clothed, or unclothed and draped with a sheet; I place my hands on or off the body, sensing where the energy is not flowing as it should, and helping it to ‘unstick’. Often, you will experience deep relaxation at the end of a session; sometimes blockages are cleared, and you will have a lot of energy!

Vibrational Sound Therapy- as part of your bodywork session

Sometimes in the course of a session, it becomes clear that there's a need for an extra "nudge" to help release a restricted nerve, soften unyielding connective tissue, or to expand contracted energies. Sound, as a vibrational element, is a powerful ally in my healing toolbox. Whether I use my voice, a singing bowl or another instrument, these vibrations create relaxation and ease where before there was stress and tightness!

Sound gives the body the “nudge” it needs to heal.

Sound gives the body the “nudge” it needs to heal.

Sound can be made visual! Check out this Cymascope video of the sound of singing bowls and voice…

Vibrational Sound Therapy for meditation retreats

We all love music, but did you know that live music is more impactful than recorded music? Sound waves facilitate healing in your body by stimulating physical and chemical changes within the cells. My harps and/or full complement of singing bowls enhance the inner experience during meditation retreats or other contemplative events. I charge $150/hour for this service. Contact me to schedule your sonic bath now!

Transitional Care and Sound Therapy

I love to bring one of my harps or a selection of singing bowls to play for someone who has just been discharged from the hospital or another facility. Often, people who have experienced hospitalization feel anxiety and pain upon returning home. Harp music soothes, relieves stress, decreases pain, and creates an environment that allows the patient to heal faster and avoid going back to the hospital: in a Mayo Clinic study, 30–50 percent of patients who received harp therapy within 24 hours of being hospitalized reported significant decrease in their fatigue, anxiety, sadness and pain. I also play harp or singing bowls for hospice patients, to help them in their transition. I charge $100 to travel to your site to provide these services for one hour.
